Elevating mid-century design: The Doasis project unveiled
Experience the epitome of coastal refinement and luxury living with the Doasis by SMUB Studio.

Positioned on the picturesque shores of Palm Beach, and recognised as the Residential Queensland winner of the polytec Design Awards 2023.

SMUB Studio, a boutique interior design studio, drew inspiration from the timeless allure of the Palm Springs architecture, blended with mid-century modern interiors. As Katie Soineva from SMUB Studio said, “Doasis was designed to bring a sense of calmness, soul, and ease of living.”

The use of polytec Florentine Walnut Woodmatt throughout gives a sense of continuity, elevating the luxe vibe of the project. Katie explains the Florentine Walnut colour as “such a divine, warm tone oozing luxury and sophistication.” The polytec colour seamlessly integrates form and function, creating a visual masterpiece that is as practical as it is beautiful. “The texture of the Woodmatt is lovely to touch and easy to clean,” says Katie.

As you enter the gates, you’re welcomed with rock masonry on the left, warmed by the timber elements on the right, complementing each other. Opening the front door, you’ll be captivated by warmth and texture of the mid-century design elements with the well thought out positioning and layout of the home capturing the morning light and afternoon golden glow. Katie describes it, “as soon as you step foot into the home, we wanted you to feel at ease and like you were entering an oasis.”

The joinery within Doasis sets the tone for the space. Florentine Walnut Woodmatt decorative board has been used for the front and end panels of the cabinetry throughout the home. Crafted by BJF Joinery, the front doors are cleverly set back from the expressed end panels to create a frame around each door. The handles are then made from Florentine Walnut Woodmatt laminate. “The joinery for Doasis was designed to create visual interest and functionality for easy living,” Katie explains.

Joinery throughout the home features throughout the kitchen, cocktail unit, laundry, media cabinets, and bathrooms, creating consistency. Katie talks about polytec as a quality product and a great alternative to timber veneer, “allowing us to achieve a high-end aesthetic and making affordability achievable in large scale joinery fit outs.”

SMUB Studio pride themselves on bringing fresh and innovative design concepts to inspire and drive the industry forward. With big plans for their next personal project – a moody, earthy, and open plan acreage. If it’s anything like Doasis, it’s set to be one to look out for.

You too can create a timeless, mid-century design like Doasis. polytec is versatile across all design schemes. To discuss your next project selections, you can visit your local polytec Selection Studio or book a free Virtual Consultation
