The latest polytec colour release is inspired by human’s innate desire to connect with nature and made to mimic sensory and physical elements of the natural environment, otherwise known as biophilia. Biophilic design is essential to increase connectivity with nature, reducing overall stress and increasing wellness. Subliminal biophilia is seen throughout the polytec range of solid, timbergrain and stone prints.
Natural material such as timber and stone are inherently linked to joinery, connecting interior spaces with the outdoors. There is a movement towards curved joinery, reflecting natural shapes and textures, along with realistic colouring without the bold, abstract design seen in the past. A conscious effort of paring back to simple colours without excess is being created in the industry, with the importance of surface touch.
Surface finish is a significant element of joinery design, and a pendulum effect can be seen within trends. Moving from Gloss to Matt is part of this effect, with Smooth the happy medium. Smooth is made to reflect a soft, painted finish with slight reflectance values, providing easy maintenance. This finish is made to elevate a base laminate from a normal Matt finish to something far more superior and luxe. Smooth is luminescent and complements the new colour range perfectly, enhancing the importance of texture and feel.
The subliminal aspect of the new polytec colours draws on a sense of comfort and familiarity, coupled with natural tones found in nature. The current world climate has created a need to retreat to familiar spaces and styles, and many of the new colours create a nostalgic feel.
Timber Range
Timber tones and structures are a permanent element in our interiors, evoking the feeling of warmth and comfort while remaining the foundation of joinery. The new range of polytec timber prints blends the old familiar timbers with new neutral coloured tones to enable mixing and matching of more than one timber colour in a project. The new range includes natural solid oaks, coloured timbers, bold ply, and warm timber tones.
The rekindled range of Figured-Wood structures with a silky-Smooth surface finish represents the unique, bespoke style of yesteryear. These are all welcome additions to the existing versatile Woodmatt range and perfect partners to the new colour-infused solid neutrals.
Solid Range
The new solid range by polytec was designed to encapsulate the feeling of wellbeing and calm with botanical colour-infused neutrals, which has become more important than ever in today’s society. The new range of solid, neutral colours is grounding and calming. From cool to warm greens, hints of blue to off-white tones in a range of light to dark, each has the slightest bit of colour to connect with all other elements used within your home or public indoor space. Sustainable, thoughtful design is a key consideration as specific trends no longer need to be adhered to.
Stone Range
Over time, a selection of natural stone patterns and colours have nestled themselves into our environments continually with ease. The new range of polytec stone patterns and colours are a classic option for timeless design. From centuries-old white Marmo with soft warm or cool, subtle veining, to warm Provincial Limestone and iconic black Cosmic Granite, terrazzo-style Ceppo stone in comfortable neutrals, that all work with a myriad of timber tones and colour infused solid neutrals. The yin and yang of near-black Volcanic Stone and white Alboran Stone are beautifully subtle, with minimal character in their solidness. The new polytec stone patterns and colours blur the line and merge practicality with long term beautiful aesthetics.
